Bearing Loads

Bearing loads develop between contacting cylindrical faces or edges of shells.

In most cases, the contacting faces or edges have the same radius. The bearing forces generate a nonuniform pressure at the interface of contact. You can select between a sinusoidal variation and a parabolic variation in the appropriate half-space as shown in the figure.

The half-space is defined by the space in which the angle Φ is less that or equal to 180º.
