- Check In Document
- Find and Include Associated Drawings
When you click Drawings under Find and include associated in the Check In Document dialog box, this dialog box opens. You can search the complete SOLIDWORKS search path, a specified folder, or both. Drawings found in a search are added to the document list in the Check In Document dialog box. (May cause slower performance.)
- SOLIDWORKS Open
Open documents in the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM vault or Workgroup PDM local view with the SOLIDWORKS Open dialog box.
- Get Local Copy and Open Document
When checking out a document, you can edit cells, a group of cells, or a column in the table of documents and their properties. You can also get a local copy and optionally take ownership, open the document, or both.
- Change Ownership
Ownership of documents locks the documents, giving the owners the opportunity to check in the next revision and to block other users from checking them in. However, owners can check in documents only if they also have read/write access for the next revision, which may depend on lifecycle status. Ownership does not imply read/write access or guarantee the ability to check in the next revision.
- Save Documents
You can save documents that are open but unsaved in the local view of the SOLIDWORKS client. Documents that are not saved appear in bold.
- Rename Documents
You can rename documents in the vault if the vault administrator gives users permission on the VaultAdmin Vault Settings tab. References are maintained within the vault.
- Add Note to Document
When you add a note to a document, it appears in the Note column on the History/Notes tab of the Document Information dialog box and in the SOLIDWORKS Explorer client.
- Attachments
You can attach a non-SOLIDWORKS document to a document in the vault during check in or in the vault view. You can attach the document to SOLIDWORKS or non-SOLIDWORKS documents, but you cannot attach a SOLIDWORKS document to other documents.
- Revisions
The vault administrator sets up revision levels on the Revision Scheme tab of the VaultAdmin. A revision scheme typically has primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, and a working copy designation.
- Bump Document Revision
You can change the revision number without opening or checking in the document.
- Viewing Configuration Information in SOLIDWORKS
From the SOLIDWORKS Task pane, you can view configuration information for Workgroup PDM files without opening them.
- Change Property Value
You can change the value of a document property in the Document Information dialog box or in the SOLIDWORKS Explorer client.
- Change Document Status
You can change the lifecycle status without opening the document.
- Archive Document Revisions (Client)
Archive and restore revisions of individual documents in a client if the vault administrator gives you permission. The vault administrator specifies the archive folder on the VaultAdmin Projects tab. You must own documents to archive or restore their revisions.
- Comparing Vault Documents
- Delete/Rollback Document
When you delete a document from the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM vault, it is placed in an Obsolete folder. When you roll back a document, revisions later than the specified revision are placed in the Obsolete folder.
- My SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Cleanup
Use the My Workgroup PDM Cleanup tool to manage your personal workspace. This tool searches the folder you select and shows all files based on selected search criteria. You can then clean up your workspace by deleting selected files.
- Generating PDF Files
To provide a universal format for exchanging drawings, Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) files can be created when SOLIDWORKS drawings are checked into the Vault. These files are not visible in the user interface, but can be viewed by opening the PDF file from the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Add-In in an Acrobat Reader in SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS Explorer, or the Web Portal.
