Components Pane

You can use the components tree on the Components pane to manage assembly file components.

To open the Components pane, click Components .

  • Highlight components
  • Hide or show individual components
  • Hide or show component descriptions
  • Make components transparent
  • Select one component and hide all other components
  • Filter components in the components tree

Highlighting Components

To highlight components:

  1. Click Components .
  2. On the Components pane, select a component in the components tree.
    The component is highlighted in the graphics area.

Hiding or Showing Components

To hide or show components:

  1. To hide a component, right-click the component in the graphics area or the components tree and select Hide.
    You can also select an item in the components tree and click Hide/Show .
    The component is hidden in the graphics area.
  2. To show the component, right-click the component in the components tree and select Show.
    The component reappears in the graphics area.

Hiding or Showing Component Descriptions

If you saved component descriptions for models in the SOLIDWORKS software, the eDrawings Components pane includes the descriptions. This helps you see information about the components in an assembly.

When you save the model in SOLIDWORKS using either the component name, component description, or both, eDrawings uses the same settings.

To show component descriptions:

Click Components .
To hide component descriptions, click Options . In the dialog box, on the General tab, clear Show Component Descriptions.

Making Components Transparent

To make components transparent:

  1. Right-click the component in the graphics area or the components tree and select Make Transparent.

    You can also select an item in the components tree and click Transparent/Solid .
    The component becomes transparent in the graphics area.

  2. To remove transparency, right-click the component in the graphics area or the components tree and select Make Solid.

Selecting One Component and Hiding Others

To select one component and hide all others:

  1. In the graphics area or components tree, right-click the component you want to keep visible and select Hide Others.
    You can also select an item in the components tree and click Isolate .
    All components are hidden in the graphics area, except for the selected component.
  2. To show all the hidden components, right-click anywhere in the graphics area or any component in the components tree, and select Show All.
    You can also click Show All in the components tree.

Filtering Components in the Components Tree

You can filter the components tree to show component names that contain text you specify.

To filter components in the components tree:

At the top of the components tree, type the search text in Enter text to filter list tool_FilterComponents.gif.
