Saving Searches as Favorites (For SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional only)

After using the Search tool tabs to define search criteria, you can save and share frequently used searches.

  1. Start a search in Windows Explorer or a search that uses the SOLIDWORKS PDM Search tool.
  2. For each tab, specify search criteria.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • In a search in Windows Explorer, expand the Favorite Searches tool_favorite_searches.gif (SOLIDWORKS PDM menu bar) flyout menu and click Add to Favorites.
    • In the Search tool, click Search > Add to Favorites or click Add to Favorites (toolbar).
  4. In the Add to Favorites dialog box, type a name for the favorite.
    To place the search in a submenu, type the name in the following format:

    submenu_name\favorite_search_name

  5. Under Users who may see this favorite, select users.
  6. Select May Edit for users to have edit permission for the saved favorite search.
  7. Under User groups that may see this favorite, select groups.
  8. Select May Edit for groups to have edit permission for the saved favorite search.
  9. Click OK to save the favorite search.
