SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM is integrated into the File Explorer tab in the SOLIDWORKS Task Pane.

When Workgroup PDM is added into SOLIDWORKS Explorer, it is referred to as Workgroup PDM Contributor or SOLIDWORKS Explorer client. Though similar to the SOLIDWORKS client, you do not need the SOLIDWORKS software installed on your computer to use the Workgroup PDM Contributor.

Shortcut menus are available when you right-click in either the local view or vault view of the SOLIDWORKS client or SOLIDWORKS Explorer client.

SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM organizes SOLIDWORKS documents based on the SOLIDWORKS hierarchy. For example, components of an assembly are indented directly under the assembly. For non-SOLIDWORKS documents, you specify in the Check In Document dialog box where to place documents in the project tree. Documents can appear more than once in a tree.

Hiding projects improves performance in the vault view.You can move a document from one project to another within the vault view.You can create subprojects to help organize project documents into more manageable pieces. Subprojects are similar to subfolders in Windows Explorer.
