Export Workgroup PDM Files

Export file type

Select the target file type.

Available selections for target file type:
  • Dxf (*.dxf)
  • Dwg (*.dwg) files
  • IGES (*.igs)
  • Adobe Portable Document Format (*.pdf)
  • STEP AP203 (*.step)
  • STEP AP214 (*.step)
  • JPEG (*.jpg)

Export options are available for all file types except JPG by clicking Options.

Workgroup PDM Projects

Include subprojects

Add Project

Click to open the Workgroup PDM Projects dialog box, select a project from the list, then click OK. The name of the project appears under Project in the window. Repeat to add more projects.

Delete

File Name or Type

To filter the files in a project based on type, select a type from the list for each project. The choices are parts (*.prt, *.sldprt), assemblies (*.asm, *.sldasm), drawings (*.drw, *.slddrw), all SOLIDWORKS files (*.sldprt, *.sldasm, *.slddrw), or all files (*.*).

Task schedule

Running mode

Select Once, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.

Start time

Each recurring task starts at the specified time of day.

Start date

Tasks scheduled Daily occur every day from the specified date, including Saturday and Sunday. Tasks scheduled Weekly occur on the same day of the week (for example, on Tuesdays). Tasks scheduled Monthly occur on the same day of the month (for example, the 12th). If you select a day of the month that does not exist (29, 30, or 31 in some months), no task is scheduled for that month.

Task output files

You can output the exported files to a folder you specify, the Workgroup PDM vault, or both.

Export to local folder

Specify a location for the exported file.

Task Scheduler remembers the last export location you specified in the current session.

Copy PDF into vault for View As PDF command

(Adobe Portable Document Format only) Specify one of the following:

Only drawings without a PDF

Create PDFs for drawings that do not currently have them.

All drawings, replacing existing PDFs

Create PDFs for all drawings, replacing any previously created PDFs.

You cannot delete outdated PDFs from the vault, but you can replace them. Using the All drawings, replacing existing PDFs option ensures that PDFs are available and up-to-date for all drawings.

Options

Specify export options for the export file type you selected.

Advanced

Specify Task Options such as Task working folder, Time out (seconds), and Backup task files.

Exporting Workgroup PDM Files

To export SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM files:

  1. In the SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler dialog box, click Export Workgroup PDM Files .
  2. Log in with your Workgroup PDM user name and password and the name of the computer with the Workgroup PDM vault.
  3. In the Export Workgroup PDM Files dialog box, set the options, then click Finish.
    The task and its title, scheduled time, scheduled date, and status appear in the Tasks panel. The status of the task is Scheduled. When the task is finished, the status changes to Completed.
