Creating Files from Templates (For SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional only)

You can create new files and folders in the vault based on preconfigured file and folder templates.

To create a file based on a template:

  1. Right-click in the vault and click New.
    The list contains all preconfigured file and folder templates you are authorized to use.
  2. Select a template.
    The data card for the file or folder is displayed if Show file data card when file is created is specified for this template. Most of the data card is filled in automatically using information from the project you selected.
  3. Verify or add information to the data card.
  4. Save data card changes by clicking Store data in card (Data Card toolbar).
  5. Create the file or folder.
  6. Check in the file or folder to add it to the vault.
