Transient Thermal Stress Analysis

Using a Design Study, you can automate the procedure to calculate static results based on selected temperature profiles from a transient thermal study.

To automate transient thermal stress analysis:

  1. Define and run a transient thermal study.
  2. Create a static study and modify its properties to activate thermal loading using temperature from the transient thermal study.
  3. Right-click the static study tab and select Create New Design Study.
  4. On the Design Study tab, in the Variables section, define a new parameter with any name, for example Steps.
  5. Link the time step value to the parameter:
    1. Right-click the static study name and select Properties.
    2. On the Flow/Thermal Effects tab of the Static dialog box, right-click the Time step box and select Link Values.
    3. In the Parameters dialog box, select the Steps parameter and click OK.
    4. Click OK.
  6. On the Design Study tab, clear the Optimization check box and define up to 10,000 steps for the Steps parameter.

    You can select up to 25 locations for saving summary results.

  7. Run the Evaluation Design Study.

The Results View tab of a Design Study list the results of different scenarios. You can plot the results on the body by selecting different sensors on the left frame of the Design Study tab. You can also plot different graphs depending on the quality of the study.
