Controlling Decals and Scenes by Display States

You can define display states to use different instances of decals and scenes.

You can also configure light sources for all light types including sunlight. This feature requires PhotoView 360.

To control decals and scenes by display states:

  1. Create a 3D model of a pen drive by the name usb_drive1.
  2. Name the pen drive case as usb_case1.
  3. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click usb_case1 and click Open Part .

  4. Add a display state named Barcode and customize it:
    1. Click at the top of the FeatureManager design tree.
      The Display Pane appears.

    2. Right-click in the Display Pane and click Add Display State .
    3. Type Barcode for the name of the field that appears at the top.
    4. Select the DisplayManager tab.
    5. Click View Decals and click Open Decal Library.
    6. In the Task Pane, drag the Barcode decal to the Case_body.
      When you drag the decal and place it on your component, a manipulator appears above the decal. You can change the direction and alignment of the decal using the manipulator.
    7. In the Decals PropertyManager, under Display States, select This display state and click .
    8. In the graphics area, right-click and click Edit Scene .
    9. In the Task Pane, click Presentation Scenes and drag the Kitchen Background scene to the graphics area.
    10. Click .

  5. Add another display state named Designed_with_SOLIDWORKS and customize it.
    1. Right-click in the Display Pane and click Add Display State .
    2. Type Designed_with_SOLIDWORKS for the name of the field that appears at the top.
    3. In the DisplayManager, right-click barcode1 and click Delete.
    4. In the Decals PropertyManager, click Open Decal Library.
    5. In the Task Pane, drag the Designed with SOLIDWORKS decal to the Case_body.
    6. In the Decals PropertyManager, under Display States, select This display state and click .

    7. In the graphics area, right-click and click Edit Scene .
    8. In the Task Pane, click Presentation Scenes and drag the Factory Background scene to the graphics area.
    9. Click .
  6. In the ConfigurationManager tab, under Display States, double-click Barcode and Designed_with_SOLIDWORKS to change between display states.
  7. In the Render Tools CommandManager, click Display States Target .
    The Display State Target dialog box appears.
    When you change between display states, the active display state is selected in the Display State Target dialog box. This is useful for deleting or customizing the decals and scenes in the active display state.
