Attaching PDF Files as Underlays

[Windows® and Mac® versions only]

Use the AttachPDF command to attach pages of a PDF document to a drawing.

The command links the specified file as a reference to the current drawing.

To attach PDF files as Underlays:

  1. Click Insert > PDF Underlay (or type AttachPDF).
  2. In the dialog box, select a PDF file to attach and click Open.
  3. In the Attach Reference: PDF Underlay dialog box, Name displays the name of the file you selected, or you can select a previously attached PDF file. Click Browse to select a different PDF file.
  4. In File information, specify the Path type:
    • Full: Shows the complete path to the PDF file.
    • None: Shows only the PDF file name.
    • Relative: Shows the relative path to the PDF file. If the drawing and PDF file are in the same folder, only the file name of the image is displayed.
  5. If the PDF file contains multiple pages, select the pages of the PDF file to insert.
  6. Under Insertion point, for X, Y, and Z, type coordinate values, or select Specify later to specify the insertion point on screen after closing the dialog box.
  7. Under Rotate, for Angle, type a value or select Specify later to set the rotation angle in the graphics area during insertion.
  8. Under Scale, type a scale factor, or select Specify later to specify the scaling on screen after closing the dialog box.
