Configuring the SOLIDWORKS PDM Database Server

You can configure the database server to change the connection information, poll frequency, and language.

To configure the SOLIDWORKS PDM Database Server:

  1. Open the SOLIDWORKS PDM Database Server dialog box by doing one of the following:
    • On Windows 7 and Windows Server systems prior to Windows Server 2012, from the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > SOLIDWORKS PDM > Database Server Configuration.
    • On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 or later, on the Apps screen, under SOLIDWORKS PDM, click Database Server Configuration.
  2. To change the SQL server login name, in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Database Server dialog box, under SQL Server Connection, type the a new User and Password.
    Use SQL Server Management Studio to create a new SQL login user with db_owner access to the SOLIDWORKS PDM database. For more information, see the SOLIDWORKS PDM/SOLIDWORKS Manage Installation Guide.
  3. To change how frequently the database is polled, for Seconds to wait until file vault databases are processed, type or select a new value.
  4. To change the language of the SOLIDWORKS PDM login dialog box, select a new language from the Language drop-down list.
  5. Click OK.
    The SOLIDWORKS PDM Database Server connects to and poll databases on the SQL server that you define when installing the Database Server. To change which SQL server to connect with, do one of the following:
    • Modify the server installation via Control Panel > Programs and Features .
    • Update the ServerName value under following registry key:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SOLIDWORKS\Applications\PDMWorks Enterprise\MailService
