You can view the properties of linked files. You can edit the properties only if you have the file checked out, which you can do from File Explorer.
- Right-click a file link and select Properties.

From the Properties dialog box, click the tab.

General - Contains read-only information such as the creation date and version number
of the file.
- File Data Card - Contains information specific to the file type (file extension).
The content, layout, and options vary by file type.
- File Permissions - Specifies which groups have permission to see the file.
This tab is available only if you have rights to set file permissions.
- Custom - Available for SOLIDWORKS files only.
- Click OK.
