Using Numerical Transforms

Numerical transforms let you translate, rotate, and scale a model. You control numerical transforms with the Model tree and Transform parameters in the Models tab of the Palette.

To use numerical transforms:

  1. In the Palette, on the Models tab, select a model in the Model tree.
Make sure you select the entire model, not just one part or the root node.
  2. On the Models tab, set any of the following:
    • Rotate. Rotates the model 90º around the selected axis (X +90, Y +90, Z +90).
    • Flip. Mirrors the model across the selected axis (X, Y, Z).
    • Pivot Center. Adjusts the pivot point of the selected model to either the center of the bounding box of the selected model (by clicking Model) or to the center of the world (0,0,0) (by clicking World).
    • Snap to Floor. Moves the model along the vertical axis until the model's origin is vertically aligned with the world origin.
    • Center. Moves the model along the horizontal axes automatically until the model's pivot point is aligned with the world origin (0,0,0).
    • Auto Size. Automatically resizes the model to fit within a bounding box determined in Tools > Options > Import > Auto-Size Options.

The default is a minimum size of 2.5m3 and the maximum is 25m3.

Triggering this breaks any relations to the model's original units and scale.
    • Reset. Resets all transforms made since you last saved the project.
    • Position XYZ. Moves the model along the selected axis (from left to right: X, Y, Z). For example, setting X to 5 moves the model 5 units along the X-axis of the project's coordinate system.
    • Rotation XYZ. Rotates the model around the selected axis (from left to right: X, Y, Z). For example, setting Y to 90 rotates the model 90º around the Y-axis of the project's coordinate system.
    • Scale XYZ. Unequally distorts the model. If you use different values in the (X, Y, Z) fields, the model is scaled by a different amount along each axis.
    • Scale All. Scales the model proportionally if you change the value to something other than 1. For example, 2 doubles the model size, and 0.5 halves the model size.
    • Pivot XYZ. Moves the model's pivot point along the selected axis (X, Y, or Z) by the distance you specify.
    • Pivot Rotation. Sets the model's local rotational behavior around each axis (X, Y, or Z) in degrees.
