Defining Uniform Pressure Loads

Applying a Uniform Pressure Normal to a Face

To apply a uniform pressure normal to a face:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the External Loads icon and select Pressure .
    The Pressure PropertyManager appears.
  2. On the Type tab under Type, select Normal to selected face.
  3. In the graphics area, click the face on which the pressure is applied.
  4. Under Pressure Value, do the following:
    1. Set Units to the desired pressure units.
    2. Type the pressure value in the Pressure Value box .
  5. Click .

Applying a Uniform Pressure to a Face in a Certain Direction

To apply a uniform pressure to a face in a certain direction:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the External Loads icon and select Pressure .
    The Pressure PropertyManager appears.
  2. On the Type tab under Type, select Use reference geometry.
  3. Click inside the Faces for Pressure box then select the face to which you want to apply the nonuniform pressure.
  4. Click inside Face, Edge, Plane, Axis for Direction box then select an entity for direction.
  5. Select a pressure component according to the entity you select for direction as follows:
    • If you select a face or a plane for direction, select one of the following components: Along Plane Dir 1 , Along Plane Dir 2 , or Normal to Plane .
    • If you select an edge for direction, the pressure along that edge is selected by default .
    • If you select an axis for direction, select one of the following components: Radial , Circumferential , or Axial .
  6. Under Pressure Value, do the following:
    1. Select the pressure Units .
    2. Type the pressure value in the Pressure Value box .
  7. Click .
