Selecting Alternate Coordinate Systems for Result X, Y, or Z Component Values

By default, when you specify the result resolved values as X Component, Y Component, or Z Component, the ground coordinate system defines the component directions. You can select a component in the assembly to define an alternate coordinate system.

To select an alternate coordinate system for a result plot of values in a component direction:

  1. From a Motion Analysis study, click Results and Plots Tool_Results_and_Plots.gif (MotionManager toolbar).
  2. Select a category and subcategory for the result.
For example, to define a result from the displacement of a part, select the Displacement/Velocity/Acceleration category and the Center of Mass Position subcategory.
  3. For Select result component, select the result resolved value direction:
    • X Component for resolved values in the X direction.
    • Y Component for resolved values in the Y direction.
    • Z Component for resolved values in the Z direction.
For example, selecting X Component with the Displacement/Velocity/Acceleration category and the Center of Mass Position subcategory defines the result from the X component of displacement.
  4. Select the result features required for the result category and subcategory.
For example, you can select a part face to define result from the X component of the displacement of the part.
  5. Select the part part.png that defines the alternate coordinate system.
The coordinate system of the selected part appears.

Select this part only to select coordinates other than ground.
  6. Select the Plot Results options you require, and click .
The result appears in the MotionManager tree.
