Slicing PropertyManager

The Slicing PropertyManager creates 2D sketch sections.

Slicing Planes

To access this tool, click Insert > Slicing . Select a planar entity or a combination of a linear entity and a point entity.

Number of planes to create Sets the number of slicing planes to create. Planar entities produce a linear pattern of parallel planes, while the combination of a linear entity and a point produces a circular pattern of reference planes whose axis is the linear entity.
Reverse Direction Reverses the direction of the planes.
Offset Sets the linear or angular spacing between planes.

Options

Add slicing planes and sketches to a folder Adds slicing planes and sketches to a folder in the FeatureManager design tree for an organized view. After you create sketches and reference planes with the Slicing tool, you can edit them individually only, not as a group.
Preview slices (slower) Shows a preview of the slices in the graphics area.
Slices to generate

Intersection

When selected:

  • For classic BREP geometry, the slice is identical to what is generated with the Intersection Curve tool.
  • For mesh BREP and graphics bodies, sketches generated by using the Slicing tool cannot be modified.

Exact

Creates an exact intersection of the mesh BREP body and graphics body that results in a series of line segments called polyline. A polyline is a continuous line composed of one or more lines. Selected by default when you select a graphics mesh body or a BREP mesh body.

Circle

Creates a circle. The diameter equals the average of the length and width of the rectangle that encloses all the sketch entities. The circle is located at the intersection of the source geometry and the slicing plane.

Rectangle

Creates a rectangle that encloses all the sketch entities and is located at the intersection of the source geometry and the slicing plane.

Bounding Box

Each color arrow corresponds to the color of an extendable drag handle of the bounding box in the graphics area.
