Setting Up a Coordinator Computer

The coordinator computer uses Network Monitor to start network services. Node computers can connect to the coordinator after services are started. There is one coordinator in a distributed group.

To set up a coordinator computer:

  1. If this computer has a firewall, open the following ports: 16162, 16163, and 16164.

All node computers and the coordinator must be able to communicate with each other.

  2. Click Network Monitor (Tasks toolbar).
  3. Select Coordinator and click Connect To.

This starts Network Monitor services, enabling node computers to connect to your system.

  4. Click Unblock if Windows Security Alert blocks Network Monitor (DTSMonitor).
  5. Click Send email (recommended) to send your computer name to node computers.
  6. Set distributed conversion options:
    1. Adjust the Maximum Task List log file size.
    2. Select Enable Network Monitor after login to ensure that Network Monitor restarts automatically.
    3. Run SOLIDWORKS minimized.
    4. Select a Task working folder.
  7. To convert files while you are doing other work, click Tasks/Network, select your computer name under Network, and click Allow tasks.
  8. Minimize Network Monitor.

Network Monitor must be running for the group to perform distributed conversion tasks.
