Scheduling Server Settings Backups

You should schedule the backup to run a few minutes before the normal daily backup and then include the archive server backup file (backup.dat) in the daily backup.

The archive server must be running to schedule the backup. The archive server manager does not need to be running.

To schedule automatic backups:

  1. Click Tools > Backup Settings.
  2. In the Backup Settings dialog box, under Options, select one:
    • Include all vaults
    • Include selected vaults. Select the vaults to back up.
  3. In the Backup location field, do one:
    • Enter the path to the folder for the backup. The default is the first archive server folder found.
    • Click Browse (...), browse to a folder for the backup, and click OK.
  4. Under Schedule, select Schedule and click Browse (...).
  5. In the Backup Schedule dialog box, select a backup option:
    • Start automatically when server starts
    • One Time

      Select the date and time for the backup.

    • Recurring

      Click Change.

      In the Recurring Backup dialog box:

      Occurs Select one:
      • Daily
      • Weekly
      • Monthly

      Use the controls to set the frequency and the day, week, or month.
      Daily Frequency Select one:
      • Occurs once at: Select the time of day.
      • Occurs every: Select the frequency (in hours) and time span.
      Duration Select the start date for running scheduled backups.

      Select the date on which scheduled backups will end or select No end date.
  6. Under Password, enter and confirm a password.
    You must know this password to restore the backup.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Verify that the schedule is correct and click OK.
  9. Click OK.
