Editing an Explode Step (Assemblies)

You can edit an explode step to add, delete, or reposition components. You can edit an explode step while you create the exploded view or after you save the view.

You can reposition an item along its current axis without reopening the Explode PropertyManager. In the ConfigurationManager , expand Exploded View and select a step to change. Then drag the item by the handle .

To edit an explode step:

  1. To open the Explode PropertyManager:
    • Right-click Exploded View and click Edit Feature. Under Explode Steps, click an explode step.
    • Right-click an explode step under Exploded View and click Edit Explode Step.
    The triad appears in the graphics area and a handle appears on the component.
  2. Reposition the components:
    • To move a component along its axis, drag the handle .
    • To change the axis that the component explodes along, click an axis on the triad, then click Done. The explode distance remains the same, but is applied along the new axis.
  3. Update the options in the PropertyManager:
    • Select components to add to the step.
    • Delete components from the step by right-clicking the step and clicking Delete.
  4. Click Undo to undo changes.
  5. Click Done.
