Working with the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a business experience platform that provides transparent data and lifecycle management. You can search, save, manage, and share files in collaborative spaces on the platform.

Two SOLIDWORKS Visualize product offerings are available to provide access to all the 3DEXPERIENCE services and apps that you are entitled to use based on your role.

3DEXPERIENCE Connector for SOLIDWORKS Visualize

The Collaborative Designer role for SOLIDWORKS gives you access to 3DEXPERIENCE Connector for SOLIDWORKS Visualize. This offering is an add-in that lets you continue to use the SOLIDWORKS Visualize Standard or Professional application that is installed on your computer. When you install the add-in, it appears as the 3DEXPERIENCE tab in SOLIDWORKS Visualize.

This offering provides a lightweight connection between your SOLIDWORKS Visualize application and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. With the add-in, you can manage data and lifecycle actions, and browse communities and social collaborative apps.

SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected

SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Professional and SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Premium give you access to Visualize Connected. This offering installs a full version of the SOLIDWORKS Visualize Professional application on your computer from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

In most ways, the 3DEXPERIENCE Connector for SOLIDWORKS Visualize and Visualize Connected behave the same. Visualize Connected gives you more capabilities on the platform and, if you are online and connected, it gives you the flexibility to work anywhere and at any time.

With SOLIDWORKS Visualize Connected, you log on to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to use SOLIDWORKS Visualize and all the other services and apps available there. You can upload design content directly to the platform through a web browser to view, modify, manage, and share work. The platform automatically stores and updates all data.
