Import Motion Loads

The Import Motion Loads dialog box allows you to read motion loads calculated by SOLIDWORKS Motion and import them into SOLIDWORKS Simulation. You can import loads at a single frame or multiple frames.

To import motion loads from the SOLIDWORKS Motion database:
  • Click Simulation > Import Motion Loads.
Motion study Select the motion study to import the loads.
Available assembly components Lists all components in the assembly.
  • To move a component under Available assembly components to Selected components, select the component then click >.
  • To move all components under Available assembly components to Selected components, click >>.
You cannot import motion loads from components in a subassembly.
Single frame study Imports motion loads for the selected component(s) at a single frame.

Frame No.

Enter the frame number.

Time

Displays the time of the selected frame.

Multiple frame study (design scenarios, up to 10,000 sets) Imports motion loads for the selected component(s) at a multiple frames.

Start

Enter the number of the starting frame.

End

Enter the number of the ending frame.

Step

Enter the frame increment.

When requesting multiple frames, the program creates a Design Study with the gravity loads along the X, Y, and Z directions and the loads due to angular velocity and angular acceleration as the variables. By default, the program creates constraints depending on the defined sensors and selects the Monitor Only option.

The program creates a Simulation study with the name CM-ALT-Frame -<Number> for each selected component. <Number> refers to the specified frame number for the Single Frame Study option and start-end-step number for the Multiple Frame Study option. For multiple frames, the software creates a Non-Optimization Design Study. The software activates automatically the Use Inertial Relief option in the properties of the study.
