Using Views

Composer has two modes, one for working with animations and another for working with views. Views are snapshots of viewport objects, called actors, and their properties.

Views are listed in the Views pane (left side of the Composer window). The toolbox model has four views:

  • initial and exploded are normal views. Normal views capture all properties for all actors.
  • up and down are custom views. Custom views capture only specified actors and properties and can be applied to normal views to modify them. The thumbnail images for custom views have diagonal lines and shading.

The initial view is currently displayed because it is the first view in the Views pane.

Highlighting and Selecting Actors
  1. In the upper-left corner of the viewport, ensure that the views icon is displayed.

If the animation icon is displayed, click the icon to switch from animation mode to view mode.

  2. In the Views pane, double-click the up view to apply it to the current view.

The slider assembly moves to its up position because the up custom view captured the position of those actors.

Tip: You can also activate a view by dragging it from the Views pane to the viewport.

  3. Drag the down view to the viewport.

The slider assembly moves to the down position.

  4. Drag the exploded view to the viewport.

This view explodes the model and adds labels.

  5. Drag the up and down views to the viewport.

You can apply custom views to any normal view.
