Summary |
Lists parameters that measure the
quality of the mesh. |
Topology
Waterproof: Yes
A mesh is considered waterproof if there are no free edges. In other
words, all edges of all surface mesh elements are
connected to other surface mesh elements.
Waterproof: No
A mesh is not considered
waterproof.
Non-manifold Elements
Highlights in green the non-manifold elements in the active mesh plot.
A non-manifold element contains an edge shared by more
than two elements.
Intersection Elements
Highlights in green the intersection elements in the active mesh plot.
Intersection elements are elements that overlap one
another.
Element intersected between bodies
Displays the intersection elements located at the common boundaries of
bodies that are touching.
Group
Domain Selections
Lists all cavities, inserts, cooling
channels, or molds in the model and the associated
domain number.
Delete
Deletes a group of elements you select in the Domain Selections
list.
New/Split
Splits one group of elements from a
meshed entity with two or more distinct element groups
into a new meshed entity.
Merge/Combine
Merges groups of elements belonging to
different meshed entities into one meshed entity. For
example, you can merge two cavities into one
cavity.
Quality
Shows elements based on their aspect ratio.
High-quality elements, which yield the most accurate and robust
solutions, are characterized by a low aspect ratio. You can view the
elements in one of three ranges:
- Aspect ratio < 8
- 8 < Aspect ratio < 20
- Aspect ratio > 20
In an ideal situation, most of the elements lie on the first
category, with only a few (or no) elements in the second category,
and none in the third. |
Overlap Region
Shows the faces that belong to bodies that are
touching where the mesh is incompatible. In a compatible mesh, there
is an element-to-element topology correspondence between the mesh at
the common boundaries of bodies that are touching. |
