Isolate

You can use Isolate to set the visibility to hidden, transparent, or wireframe for components that are not selected, enabling you to focus on the selected components.

You can isolate parts or subassemblies to edit them in the context of the assembly. You can isolate components that share a mate.

Use the Isolate pop-up toolbar to change the visibility of the hidden components to Wireframe, Transparent, or Hidden. The transparency used when editing a component in the context of an assembly is not used when Isolate is active.

Click Save as Display State to save the display characteristics to a new display state. You can access the display state from the ConfigurationManager. If you do not save the display state, the display returns to its original state.

When you select Hidden, you can match the FeatureManager design tree to the graphics area by selecting Filter Hidden/Suppressed Components in Filter .

To isolate components that share a mate, right-click the mate in the FeatureManager design tree and click Isolate.

Isolating Components for Viewing or Editing

To isolate components:

  1. Select the components to isolate in the graphics area or the FeatureManager design tree.
  2. Click View > Display > Isolate, or right-click and click Isolate.
    To isolate components that share a mate, right-click the mate in the FeatureManager design tree and click Isolate.
    The removed components change their display state to hidden, wireframe, or transparent. You can use the Isolate pop-up toolbar to change their display state:
    Wireframe
    Transparent
    Hidden
  3. Select a component to edit and click Edit Part or Edit Assembly .
  4. Optional: Click Save as Display State to save the display characteristics to a new display state.
  5. When you finish working on the isolated components, click Exit Isolate on the Isolate pop-up toolbar and Edit Component on the Assembly tab of the CommandManager.
    The model returns to its original display state.
