Exporting BOMs

You can export BOMs to Excel, XML, or to a comma-separated list-based text file for use with other applications.

Export to CSV files

To export a BOM directly to Excel:

Click Open as CSV file from the Bill of Materials tab.

To export a BOM to a comma-separated text file:

  1. Click Save BOM   from the Bill of Materials tab and select Save As.

  2. Under Save in, select a folder.

  3. Under Save as type, select CSV-FIle.

  4. Click Save.

Export to XML

Exporting a BOM  to an XML file can occur automatically when you change the state of an assembly or named BOM. An administrator configures an export rule for the BOM type and adds the rule to a workflow transition. You can export computed BOMs, SolidWorks BOMs, and named BOMs as XML.

The BOM is exported to a directory on the archive server specified in the export rule.

To export a computed BOM or SolidWorks BOM to an XML file:

Right-click an assembly in the File Explorer, select Change State, and then select a transition.

To export a named BOM:

Right-click a named BOM in the Bill of Materials view, select Change State, and then select a transition.
