Capturing Dimensions and Features

To use DriveWorksXpress, you first add a SolidWorks model to the DriveWorksXpress database and then identify the parameters to control when generating variations.

To capture dimensions and features:

  1. Select Tools, DriveWorksXpress .

  2. Select Add/Edit Models and click Next.

  3. Select from the list of Models already in DriveWorksXpress and click Next.

  4. On the Capture tab, select the models to control, then click Next to open the Dimensions and Features tab.

  5. Select a part from the Capture tab tree and click Add to open the DriveWorksXpress tab in the FeatureManager.

You capture dimensions and features in the part rather than in the assembly.

  1. Click a dimension or feature in the model.

The name of the selected item appears in SolidWorks Selection.

  1. Enter text in New DriveWorks Name and click Apply.

The name is displayed under Dimensions or Features in Captured Information.

  1. Click Finish.
