RecordLine Method (ISldWorks)

Adds a line to the journal and macro recording files.

.NET Syntax

Visual Basic (Declaration)
Function RecordLine( _
   ByVal Text As String _
) As Boolean
Visual Basic (Usage)
Dim instance As ISldWorks
Dim Text As String
Dim value As Boolean

value = instance.RecordLine(Text)
C#
bool RecordLine(
   string Text
)
C++/CLI
bool RecordLine(
&   String^ Text
)

Parameters

Text

Text to write to the files

Return Value

True if successful, false if not

Remarks

Text is only written to the macro recording file if recording is enabled when this method is called.

This method is useful if you want your add-in application to record and play back with SolidWorks macros or journaling.

For example, if your add-in application allows end-users to change the material specifications associated with the model, then end-users may want to be able to record and play back the operation in a macro. This might allow them to easily assign material specifications to a large number of files by playing back the macro. An example of what you would want to journal might be:

loadOk = swApp.LoadAddIn ("myAddInDLL.dll")

if (loadOk <> 0) and (loadOk <> 2) then' If failed and not already loaded, give error

swApp.SendMsgToUser "Failed to load myAddInDLL DLL"

end if

retval = swApp.CallBack( "myAddInDLL@OnChangeMaterialSpec", 0, "Steel")

if (loadOk = 0) then   ' If my addin was not already loaded, then unload it

swApp.UnloadAddIn ("myAddInDLL.dll")

end if
