Viewing and Editing ECAD Properties from SolidWorks

You can view and edit component ECAD properties that are stored in assemblies generated by CircuitWorks. For assemblies not created by CircuitWorks, you can add ECAD data. If you export the assembly from SolidWorks into CircuitWorks, the ECAD data is also exported.

To view or edit ECAD properties:

  1. From SolidWorks, click the CircuitWorks tab.
  2. In the CircuitWorks feature tree, right-click a feature and click Properties.

A Properties dialog box appears. The properties available depend on the type of feature you selected.

You can view or edit properties of other features by clicking in the graphics area or CircuitWorks feature tree while the Properties dialog box is open.

  3. To add or edit properties, type values and click Update.

You can edit only the following properties from SolidWorks: name, part number, and reference designator. You can edit other ECAD properties from CircuitWorks.
You can also edit reference designators by clicking a component instance in the CircuitWorks tree twice (slow double-click), typing a new designator, and pressing Enter.

  4. Click Close.
