Selective Open

The Selective Open dialog box appears if you select Quick view / Selective open while opening an assembly through the Open dialog box. It enables you to open a simplified representation of the assembly, which improves assembly performance in large assemblies. You specify which components to load; other components are not loaded and not visible, but the effects of their mates are retained.

With the Selective Open dialog box, the following also appear:

  • A simplified FeatureManager design tree showing only components.

  • A preview of the assembly.

Options in the Selective Open dialog box include:

  • Selected components. Opens the assembly with all components hidden except those you select.

    • Use standard component selection tools to select components while the dialog box is open.

    • Click Open Selected.

The selected components are loaded lightweight. All other components become hidden and are not loaded into memory. A new display state appears on the ConfigurationManager tab.

  • All components displayed. Opens the assembly with all components displayed except those you hide.

    1. Use display states and standard show/hide tools to hide components while the dialog box is open.

    2. Click Open.

The visible components are loaded lightweight. The hidden components are not loaded into memory. A new display state appears on the ConfigurationManager tab.
