Check Active Document
The Check Active Document tool
is where the SolidWorks Design Checker uses the Build
Checks requirements to evaluate the document.
To set file locations to search for *.swstd
documents:
Click Tools,
Options, System
Options, File Locations.
Select Design
Checker Files in Show folders
for, then click Add to
specify file locations.
To run Check Active
Document:
In the SolidWorks window, click Check
Active Document
(Design Checker flyout
, Tools toolbar)
or Tools, Design
Checker, Check Active Document.
A Design Checker tab opens in the Task Pane.
In the Design Checker task pane, you can do one
of the following:
Select
one or multiple drafting standards from the list of built-in
standard files.
Click Add
Standards
, browse for .swstd
files, and select standard files to add.
Click Remove
Standards
to clear standard files, or Move
Up
, Move Down
to reorganize them.
Click Select
File, to open an existing file to compare to the active document.

Click Check Document
to check the active document and display the results.
An alert appears if duplicate
checks are found in multiple .swstd
files. Design Checker uses the last occurrence of the check.
Design Checker evaluates the document based
on the selected standard file .swstd.
Depending on the passed and failed checks,
the results that appear in the Design Checker Task Pane are:
A message
that your document is as per standard-
-or-
A list of failed
checks organized by criticality
level.
To correct failed checks:
Expand the individual
nodes
to show the Actual
Value and Preferred Value(s).
Select one or multiple
nodes of failed checks and click Correct
Selected to correct only the selected failed checks
-or-
Click Auto
Correct All, to correct all failed checks for which Design Checker
supports
auto-correction.
Auto Correct
All triggers re-validation of the active document.
The
failed checks are corrected with the values set in each of the Preferred
auto correction values box.
The Correct
Selected tool does not trigger re-validation of the active document
You can click Recheck Document
to re-validate the document.
Click Close
to close the tab with no change, or Save Report
to create
a report.
Results are saved in Microsoft Word and xml
formats.
The report summarizes the failure instances
according to criticality level, and lists the autocorrected parameters
with their initial and corrected values.
To select a different standard file, click Settings
and re-validate
your document
To validate additional documents:
Check the first active
document and review the results.
Switch to another document.
Click Check
Document to validate the second document using the same settings.
Switch between active
documents to view both result sets.
