Use the Custom Operations PropertyManager to create custom operations to apply additional costs to sheet metal parts.
To display this PropertyManager, use the Sheet Metal Costing
tool to evaluate the cost of a sheet metal part. At the top of the CostingManager, click Create Custom Operation
.
Operation
This section displays information about existing custom operations.
Custom Operation |
Displays the custom operation that you select.- Setup Cost
- Cost to set up the custom operation.
- Operation Cost
- Cost to run the custom operation.
- Total Cost
- Setup Cost + Operation Cost.

New Operation
This section displays information about new custom operations.

Sets the custom operation name. |
Setup Cost |
Sets the cost associated with manufacturing setups, such as setting up machines to run a batch (lot) of parts. Select how to distribute the setup cost: - Total Quantity
- Setup cost is divided by the total number of parts (Setup cost per part = Setup cost / Total number of parts). For example, if the setup cost is 100 and the total number of parts is 100, then the setup cost per part is 1.
- Lot
- Setup cost is divided by the lot size (Setup cost per part = Setup cost / Lot size). For example, if the setup cost is 100 and the lot size is 10, then the setup cost per part is 10.
- Part
- Setup cost is applied per part
(Setup cost per part = Setup cost). For example, if the setup cost is 100 then the setup cost per part is 100.

Operation Cost |
Sets the cost associated with performing the operation. Select how to apply the operation cost:- Part
- Applies the cost to the entire part.
- Face
- Applies the cost to All Faces or Select Faces.
- Edge
- Applies the cost to All Edges or Select Edges.
- Weight
- Applies the cost based on the part weight.
- Stroke
- Applies the cost to the Number of selections you make or to a defined number of strokes that you set in Enter quantity.
After you make these selections, the Setup Cost, Operation Cost, and Total Cost update in the PropertyManager.
