Switching the Costing Template

You can determine how manufacturing operations affect the cost of your design. For example, you can compare costs of getting the part manufactured by different vendors.

In this example, you check the costs of a vendor that uses laser cutting instead of water jet cutting.

  • In the Costing Task Pane, under Costing Template, select sample_shm_metric_laser.

    You change the template to get a cost estimate from a laser cutting manufacturer.

    The Estimated Cost Per Part decreases, indicating it is cheaper to get the part made at the laser cutting vendor.
