Mates to Dangling Geometry

When you change the geometry of a component so that the mate can no longer be satisfied, the mate becomes dangling.

Example

A concentric mate exists between the shaft and the small diameter on the cap. Later, you add a fillet to the cap, eliminating the small cylindrical face. The concentric mate to that face can no longer be solved.

How MateXpert helps

When you click Diagnose in MateXpert, the mate and the missing geometry are listed.

How you can fix the problem

• Delete the mate.

• Edit the mate to include different entities.

• Use Replace Mate Entities to select a different entity (such as the larger cylindrical face in the example above).
