Defining Sensors

You define sensors to monitor result quantities at a set of locations, mass properties of components or bodies, interferences between components for assemblies, and dimensions.

Use Workflow Sensitive sensors to:

  • Plot time history graphs on selected vertices for transient studies and design scenarios

  • Set a data graph in Trend Tracker

  • Probe Simulation results

To define a Simulation Data sensor:

  1. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click Sensorsand select Add Sensor.

  2. In the PropertyManager, under Sensor Type , select Simulation Data.

  3. Under Data Quantity select:

    1. A result quantity in Results .

    2. A result component in Component .

    3. If applicable, a reference plane, axis or coordinate system for Plane, Axis or Coordinate System .

  4. Under Properties select:

  1. Unit system in Units.

  2. A variable in Criterion .

  3. If applicable, select geometric entities in Components , Bodies, Faces, Edges, or Vertices for Sensor.

  1. Check the Factor of Safety box to track the factor of safety of the selected result quantity. Type a value in the Enter limit value box.

  2. Check the Alert box to let the program notify you when results deviate from the limits you set here.

  3. Click to save the sensor.

To define a WorkFlow Sensitive sensor:

  1. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click Sensorsand select Add Sensor.

  2. In the PropertyManager, under Sensor Type , select Simulation Data

  3. Under Data Quantity, select Workfow Sensitive in Results .

  4. Under Properties, select in the graphics area a vertex or point in Point or Vertex for sensor.

  5. Click to save the sensor.

To define a sensor when probing a model:

  1. In the Probe Result PropertyManager, populate the Results list with nodes or elements.

  2. Under Report Options, click Save as Sensor .

  3. In the dialog box, type a name for the sensor and click OK.
