List Stress

Lists elemental stresses or averaged nodal stress results across body boundaries. For stress component plots, you have the option to plot average or actual nodal values.

Component

• Component . Sets the stress component to be searched for extreme values. The default is to list values within 5% tolerance of the Absolute Max value. Click here for a list of available stress components for listing.

• Units . Select the units of the stress list.

• Plot Step . Sets the step number at which the selected result is to be listed. Available only for nonlinear, dynamic and drop test studies.

Advanced Options

• Plane, Axis or Coordinate System . Select a reference plane, an axis, or a coordinate system to list stress. Used for directional components only.

• Nodes. Lists nodal stresses

• Element's center. Lists element stresses

• Element's nodes. Available only if Range is selected. Lists the normal and shear stresses at the nodes of each element defined in Range.

• Shell Face . For shell and mixed mesh models only.

• • Top. Total stresses at the top face.

  • Bottom. Total stresses at the bottom face.

  • Membrane. Membrane stress component.

  • Bending. Bending stress component.

• Extremes . Select this option to search for extreme values.

• • Criterion . Sets the criterion for extreme results. Available list options are: Absolute Max, Algebraic Max, and Algebraic Min.

  • Sort by value. If checked, activates the sorting of the list.

  • List all values within. Sets the range of values to be listed. The default is to list values within 5% tolerance of the extreme value.

• Range . Select this box to specify the desired range of nodes/elements to be searched. Use this option to list values sequentially with node/element numbers. Enter the lowest and the highest node/element numbers.

List Set

Available only if Range is selected under Advanced Options. Sets the thermal components to be listed.

• List normal and shear stresses

• List principal, von Mises and stress intensity

To list a stress component with respect to a selected reference geometry:

1. If needed, create the reference entity that you want to use to list the desired stress component.

2. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the Results folder and select List Stress, Displacement, Strain.

The List Results PropertyManager opens.

3. Under Quantity, select Stress.

4. In the FeatureManager design tree, select the reference geometry you created in step 1.

Make sure that the reference entity you selected appears in the Plane, Axis or Coordinate System box under Advanced Options.

5. Select the desired options as described above and click OK.

The List Results dialog box opens and a list of the selected stress component appears. You can change the display units of the stress by selecting the desired units from the Units menu.

6. Click Save.

The Save As dialog box opens. You can save the list to an Excel file (*.csv) or to a plain text file (*.txt).

7. Click Close.
