Mass Participation (Normalized)
You can list mass participation ratios in the global X, Y, and Z directions normalized with respect to the total mass after running a frequency study. Mass participation ratios are important in determining the adequacy of the calculated modes to solve dynamic problems with base motion. Many codes require that at least 80% of the mass of the system participates in specified directions.
To list mass participation factors:
-
Run a frequency or a linear dynamic study.
-
Right-click the Results folder and select List Mass Participation.
The Mass Participation (Normalized) dialog box opens.
-
Click Save to save the listed information to an Excel (*.csv) file or to a plain text (*.txt) file.
