Hints for Interactive Feature Recognition


  • Recognize fillets and chamfers first. Interactive recognition of any extrusions or revolves is simpler after any fillets or chamfers are recognized and removed from the geometry.
  • Use Delete Face(s) to remove complex or unwanted faces. You can then recreate the features using SolidWorks functionality.
    If you delete faces that are necessary for previously recognized features, FeatureWorks will not be able to recreate those features.
  • Perform Automatic Feature Recognition after you have simplified the geometry using Interactive Feature Recognition. If you think the FeatureWorks software can recognize the remaining geometry automatically, click Automatic to perform Automatic Feature Recognition. You can use step-by-step recognition with automatic and interactive feature recognition or a combination of these methods.
