SolidWorks Open

Open documents in the SolidWorks Workgroup PDM vault or Workgroup PDM local view with the SolidWorks Open dialog box.

To open documents with the SolidWorks Open command:

  1. In SolidWorks, click Open on the Standard toolbar, or click File, Open.

  2. In the SolidWorks Open dialog box, select a file type in Files of type.

  3. Select My Workgroup PDM Documents or Workgroup PDM Vault in the locations sidebar.

  4. Select options as described below, then click Open or Check Out.

My Workgroup PDM Documents

The folder displayed is specified in Options and is in the local view.

References. Edit referenced file location, or double-click a file to browse for a replacement.

Workgroup PDM Vault

The current Workgroup PDM user name (Workgroup PDM Name) and Workgroup PDM Vault name are displayed.

The button to execute the command changes as follows:

  • Check Out. For a document not owned. To open rather than check out the document, clear the Check Out check box. The button changes to Open.

  • Open. For a document owned.

Check Out Advanced or Open Advanced. Opens the Get Local Copy and Open Document dialog box. Select references and revisions, local save directory, note, and so on.
