Cable/Wire Library / Component Library

You can edit the XML files used as libraries in electrical routing, and save the edited values in the existing library or in a new file.

  • A Cable/Wire Library defines the attributes of the cables and wires, such as specification number, size, color, description, and so on. You need a cable/wire library if you want to assign electrical attributes to the route.

  • A Component Library cross-references the components in the from-to list to the SolidWorks part documents for those components. It also defines connector data for use when you create a harness drawing with the harness flattening and detailing functionality. (If you are not importing data with a from-to list and are not going to create a harness drawing, you do not need a component library.)

You can use the Routing Component Library Wizard in the Routing Library Manager to create, edit, and import electrical cable and component data.
