Modifying the Costing Template
You can modify the Costing template any time there are changes in cost structures. For example, if the price of steel increases, you can change the cost in the template.
- In the Costing Task Pane, under Costing Template, click Launch Template Editor.
- In the Costing Template Editor, on the left pane, click Thickness.
The prices for each material are defined. You can edit the cost values permanently here, or you can edit them temporarily in the Task Pane.
- Close the Costing Template Editor without making any changes.
- In the Costing Task Pane, under Material, for Material cost, type 5.00.
- Press Enter.
Material cost is highlighted in yellow to indicate that it has been overridden from the value in the template, and the Estimated Cost Per Part decreases.
- Under Estimated Cost Per Part, click Set Baseline
to unlock the previously set baseline value.
- Click Set Baseline
again to lock the Current price as the new baseline against which you compare future design changes.
