You can move a file vault archive to one or more folders.
You can either relocate the entire archive to another folder, or relocate it to several folders.
Before you begin:
- Make sure you have sufficient space.
- Make sure no one accesses the file vault during this procedure.
- Create the directory for the relocated files - preferably on a local drive of the archive server.
You can use a network resource, but this can degrade performance.
To relocate a file vault:
- In the left pane, click the root folder.
- In the right pane, right-click a file vault
and select Relocate.
- In the File Vault Relocation dialog box:

To relocate to a single folder, under Selected Location, enter the path to the folder for the relocated vault archive or click
, browse to the folder, and click OK.
- To relocate to multiple folders:
- Under Archive Locations, click Add.
- Under Selected Location, enter the path to one of the folders for the relocated vault archive or click , browse to the folder, and click OK.
- Repeat steps a and b until all folders are listed under Archive locations.
- Select a folder and set the Size slider to the percentage of the file archive to be stored in it.
- Repeat for each folder.
Total Size must equal 100% and the indicator must be green.
- Click OK.
- When you are prompted to make sure that no users are accessing the file vault, click OK to start the relocation process.
When the relocation is complete, the File Vault Relocation dialog box closes.
To confirm the archive's new location, right-click the file vault you moved. Select Properties and review the Archive Locations tabs.
