Expanding and Collapsing Items and Folders

You can expand and collapse folders in the navigation pane and items in the main pane to show or hide their content.

  • To expand or collapse a folder or item, do any:
    • Double-click the folder or item.
    • Click (expand) or (collapse) next to the folder or item name.
    • Click to select the folder or item, then press a key:
      To perform this task Press this key
      Expand the folder or item + (plus sign on your numeric keypad)
      Expand the folder and all subfolders or the item and all subitems * (asterisk on your numeric keypad)
      Collapse the folder or item - (minus sign on your numeric keypad)
      Move down to the next displayed folder or item Down arrow
      Move down to the next folder or item, expanding when possible Right arrow
      Move up to the previous displayed folder or item Up arrow
      Move up to the parent folder or item, collapsing when possible Left arrow
  • To expand or collapse all items in the main pane, click Expand Levels (toolbar) and select one:
    • Expand One Level
    • Expand Two Levels
    • Expand Three Levels
    • Expand All Levels
    • Collapse All

    Expand Levels does not affect folders in the navigation pane.
