Derived configurations allow you to create a parent-child relationship within a configuration. By default, all parameters in the child configuration are linked to the parent configuration. If you change a parameter in the parent configuration, the change automatically propagates to the child.
You can create new assembly configurations, by either suppressing or resolving all of the components at once.
When you open an assembly document, you can create a new configuration, and either suppress or resolve all of the components at once. You can specify which configuration to use for the parts contained in the new assembly configuration.
When you open an assembly document, set configuration options in the Configure Document dialog box.
SpeedPak creates a simplified configuration of an assembly without losing references. If you work with very large and complex assemblies, using a SpeedPak configuration can significantly improve performance while working in the assembly and its drawing.
If a component (either an individual part or a subassembly) has more than one configuration, you can specify which configuration to use for each instance in the assembly.
