Style Splines

Use the Style Spline Tool_Style_Spline tool to sketch single-span Bézier curves. These curves let you create smooth and robust surfaces, and are available in 2D and 3D sketches.

The style spline consists of only one span. You shape its curvature by selecting and dragging control vertex points. Sketch entities connect the control vertices which form the control polygon of the curve.

With style splines, you can easily control the degree and continuity of the curves. You can inference style splines for tangency or equal curvature. You can constrain the points and dimension the curves' sides. These curves also support mirroring and self-symmetry.

You can access the Style Spline tool from Style Spline Tool_Style_Spline (Sketch toolbar) or Tools > Sketch Entities > Style Spline.

  • Sketching a Style Spline

    You can sketch a style spline as a bridge curve between two existing entities.

  • Inserting a Control Vertex

    The Insert Control Vertex command adds one or more control vertices to style splines. Each control vertex you add increases the curve's degree.

  • Constraining a Style Spline

    You can constrain a style spline by dimensioning line segments in the control polygon.

  • Using Local Edit

    Local edit allows you to drag and manipulate the shape of a style spline without affecting adjacent style splines. This setting is helpful when you are working with multiple style splines that are connected but not fully constrained.
