Checkbox Properties

Use the Checkbox properties pane to configure check boxes you add to a data card.

To display this pane:

In the Card Editor, click Checkbox (Controls toolbar), and click in the card to place the check box.

Caption

Type the check box caption. It is common to make the caption and variable name the same.

Value

Variable name

Select the data card variable to store the value of the check box.

A selected check box stores the value 1 and a cleared check box stores the value 0.

Variables

Click to open the Edit Variables dialog box to create a new variable, or check the properties of an existing variable.

Flags

Read-only

Makes the check box read-only, so that its value cannot be changed by the user.

Show in Explorer

The variable and stored value of the checkbox (0 or 1) is shown in the client Preview tab.

This flag is normally disabled when using check boxes.

Updates all configurations

All data card configuration tabs are updated by the value entered in the check box.

Default value

Select an option to automatically enter a default value in the check box when new files or items are created. See Assigning Default Values.

No default value

Checked

The check box is selected by default.

You can have multiple check boxes selected by default.

Unchecked

The check box is cleared by default.

Folder data card variable

The check box inherits its setting (selected or cleared) from the selected folder data card variable.

For example, if you link a check box on the folder data card to a variable and select that variable as the default value, new files added to the folder inherit the setting from the folder data card.

File data card variable

(Item cards only.) Select a file data card variable whose value will be used as the default value.

For example, if you link a check box on the file data card to a variable and select that variable as the default value, new items created from files using that file data card inherit the check box value.

When creating items for configurations, values come from the referenced configuration, or if empty, the custom properties (@ tab). Therefore, if you want item card values to exactly match configuration values, ensure that all mapped configuration variables have values by defining those properties as required. Alternatively, do not use custom properties.

When creating items for CAD files (not specific configurations), values come from the custom properties.

Default overwrites

Overwrites the existing variable value with the default value when users copy or add files or items.

Excluded Configurations Configurations from which to exclude default values.

Exclusion occurs when files are added to the vault or when the addition of a new configuration generates default values.

Type one configuration name per line.

You can use * as a wildcard. For example *magnet* excludes all configurations with "magnet" in the configuration name.

Configurations are not excluded if users manually generate values.
