Settings Dialog Box - Adding Files

Use the Adding Files page to control how files are saved to the vault from an application that does not use the Save As dialog box.

By default, when an application does not use the standard Windows Save As dialog box, files created by the application are stored only locally. To get the files into the vault, users must right-click them in the vault view and select Add to file vault.

These settings add the specified files to the vault. The Enterprise PDM system tray icon shows a green plus sign as files are added . Unless you prevent it, when the files have been stored, a notification balloon shows the number of files added.

To display the Settings dialog box:

Right-click the user and select Settings.

Added extensions

Enter extensions for files that Enterprise PDM should always try to add, even when they are not saved by way of the Save as dialog box.

Separate the file extensions with semicolons.

You must specify each extension; wild cards do not apply.

For example, when the user creates a new Inventor Project file and points it to a vault path, the file is not added to the vault and ends up as a local file. By adding the extension .ipj to the list, it will be added.

Excluded files

Enter patterns for files with extensions or names that should not be added to the vault. The pattern can contain wildcards such as * or ?.

For example, some .tmp files trigger an automatic add to the vault when they are created by an application. If you want them to be only stored locally, add the pattern *.tmp to the excluded files list.

Add new files silently without showing a notification balloon

Files that are saved from applications to a vault view will not show a notification balloon upon success. Warnings will still display.
