Factor of Safety Wizard

For static studies, the Factor of Safety Wizard guides you step-by-step to assess the safety of design based on a selected failure criterion. It calculates the factor of safety distribution throughout the model based on the following criteria:
  • The Maximum von Mises Stress criterion
  • The Maximum Shear Stress criterion
  • The Mohr-Coulomb Stress criterion
  • The Maximum Normal Stress criterion

For options with composite shell models, see Composite Failure Criteria.

Refer to the Checking Stress Results section for more details.
