Splitting a Face (Split Tab)

The Split tab is available in the following PropertyManagers:

Fixtures Pressure Force/Torque
Remote Loads/Mass Distributed Mass Connectors
Convection Heat Flux Heat Power

Splitting a Face by Intersection

To split a face by intersection:

  1. In the Fixture or an External Loads PropertyManager, select the Split tab.
  2. Under Type of Split, select Intersection.
  3. Under Selection:
    • Select a face for Splitting Face .
    • Select faces to split from a different body for Other Faces to Split .

Splitting a Face by Projecting an Existing Sketch

To split a face by projecting an existing sketch:

  1. In the Fixture or an External Loads PropertyManager, select the Split tab.
  2. Under Type of Split, select Sketch.
  3. Under Selection, click an existing sketch to project for Project Sketch .

    The sketch and the faces to split must belong to the same part.

  4. For Other Faces to Split , select the faces to project the sketch onto.
  5. Optionally, select either:
    • Single direction to project the sketch to one direction,
    • Reverse direction to project the sketch in the opposite direction.
  6. Click Create Split.

Splitting a Face by Projecting a New Sketch

To split a face by projecting a new sketch:

  1. In the Fixture or an External Loads PropertyManager, select the Split tab.
  2. Under Type of Split:
    1. Select Sketch.
    2. Click Create Sketch.
  3. When you finish sketching, click Exit Sketch.

    The sketch appears in Project Sketch under Selection.

  4. For Other Faces to Split , select the faces to project the sketch onto.
  5. Optionally, select either:
    • Single direction to project the sketch to one direction.
    • Reverse direction to project the sketch in the opposite direction.
  6. Click Create Split.
