Modifying a Global Variable in the Equations Dialog Box

You can use global variables to define linked dimensions in parts or assemblies. You can define or modify global variables in the Equations dialog box.

To modify global variables in parts or assemblies:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Click Equations OTTool_Equations_Tools.gif (Tools toolbar).
    • Click Tools > Equations.
    • Right-click the Equations FM_equations.gif folder in the FeatureManager design tree, and select Manage Equations.
  2. In the Equations dialog box, select the Equations View equations_view_icon.
  3. In a global variable row under Global Variables, change the value in the Value/Equation column.
  4. Press Enter or Tab to move to the next cell in the Comments row.

    The number updates in the Evaluates to column and the model automatically rebuilds. All the dimensions that depend on the global variable are updated.

  5. Type a comment as appropriate.

    You can click Undo tool_undo.gif in sequence to undo a sequence of changes. Click Redo tool_redo.gif to restore a change.

  6. Click OK.
