You can add a reference direction to help prevent angle mates from flipping unexpectedly. This makes the mate definition more robust and predictable.
To define an angle mate and place the dimension:
- Open install_dir\samples\whatsnew\assemblies\angle_mate\angle_case1.sldasm.
- Click Mate
(Assembly toolbar) or .
- In the Mate PropertyManager, under Standard Mates, click Angle.
- In Mate Selections, select the edges shown for Entities to Mate.

- Under Mate Selections, do one of the following:
- In Reference Entity, select the axis shown.

- Click Auto Fill Reference Entity

- Use the dimension selector to determine the angle orientation to drive the dimension value.

Click any quadrant in the dimension selector to place the dimension.
